I did lactate testing with Coach Gareth. It was an amazing experience through and through. I was a little nervous going to his lab, but he made me feel comfortable and right at home. First we spoke for a few minutes about my hx and training and injuries- very casually, he established great rapport. And then we started on a warmup on the treadmill. He provided a towel and water bottle and heart rate monitor. The running ramped up very slowly with Coach Gareth taking small droplets of blood intermittently (perhaps 8 times) until I was running quite fast (but not uncomfortably so). Then I warmed down. Coach Gareth showed me the results on a chart, and showed my lactate levels, ideal heart beat range for zones 1-5, and recommended a workout plan, a nutrition plan, and a hydration plan. Throughout the workout he kept an easy conversation going to keep the rapport and perhaps gauge the breathing level. I was very happy to pay him at the end- the best $$$ I've spent in a long time! Highly Recommend!!!!

Coach Gareth has been my coach for 10 seasons, seeing me through from my first sprint distance triathlon which I had to learn to swim (real swimming), bike, and run to my first full Ironman distance race training. He has been consistently on top of my program, flexible when I need it, and cognizant of various injuries that have popped up.

He is responsive, communicative, and supportive (even if he sleeps in WAY later than me!) and has been great fun to work with.

I have been working with Coach Gareth for several years now. His lactate testing is fundamental to my training as a healthy adult. As a doctor, I often recommend my patients to the Coach for lactate levels too. I’ve enjoyed training with him on and off over the years. I improved my health, strength, aerobic capacity, and enjoyment of running under his coaching. Gareth is also a very generous and funny individual. Overall, a jem!

Coach Gareth is amazing! He has helped me achieve a personal best in marathon in London 2023 and Berlin again later in 2023, and I’m running better now than I have in decades. If you’re willing to pay for the more expensive running shoes (which if you’re reading this you already are), don’t compromise spending on Gareth as your coach.

I did a lactate threshold test with Coach Gareth in order to better determine what heart rate at which to train, without having to guess. Gareth really knows what he’s doing and how to clearly communicate his knowledge. I left with the data I was looking for and a better understanding of what it meant. A bonus was getting advice on running form and overall training recommendations. Highly recommended.

Last kid picked in gym class checking in. As someone whose running pace is only slightly slower than some people’s brisk walk, I had a bit of hesitation about reaching out to Gareth, given the caliber of athletes he works with. But I really wanted someone to assess my running form and I figured since there’s probably a lot to work on, why not ask an expert? I’m SO glad I did, because it was amazing!

Gareth is so kind, and warm, and I had so much fun working with him! We did a gait analysis, along with the lactate threshold and sweat testing. I learned SO much - Gareth broke it all down in a way that was very easy to understand, and with a few quick drills, also gave me an “Oh! So THIS is what it should feel like!” Moment.

Following his recommendations, I had the best training run of my life the next day. I knew exactly what to focus on, I felt great and I actually really enjoyed it, instead of feeling like I was just grinding it out the entire time, mentally and physically.

I’m running a half-marathon in a few months and I’m feeling completely confident about preparing for it, thanks to Gareth. So grateful for his knowledge, and encouragement.

I have been running for couple of years now and am training to the marathon now, so decided to do a lactate threshold test to make sure my zones are correct. Gareth was super helpful, he helped me to figure out my zones, gave really useful advice on my form and training in general. He is extremely knowledgeable and experienced in coaching! I’m looking forward to working with him again in the future!
