My go to whenever I need some Chinese soup ingredients! I usually buy in bulk as I don’t come here often, twice a year. I am able to get everything that I need whenever I visit. Great parking right next to ranch 99.
I am writing this review as I saw some bad reviews about this place. I am giving my point of view with my own experience. I visited Chung Chou City since 6 years ago.
Rent is so $$ anywhere in the Bay Area. I think their price is very fair to be honest. If you compare other stores in the area, which is none except in Chinatown. But my fav one in Chinatown has closed down. Their price is not cheaper than this place! Yes there are a lot of Chinese store like this in Chinatown but I don’t just go in any store and purchase. Some places can sell fake stuff…
Then I saw the complain about services. I have pretty high bar on service, but it’s when I stay at expensive resort and very upscale restaurants.
Come on, it’s a retail store. I ask question, and they answer, I pick up what I wanted.
Since I buy in bulk, there were at times 30 items on the checkout and they always want to do their best to scan them, answer questions that I have. And yes it took them time to process like any other places.

I visited there during the lunch time. The staff was having lunch and pushed us to finish our order as soon as possible. She was so rude and arrogant, which made our user experience so bad and purchase nothing.

It’s surprising that they assumed I don’t understand Cantonese and chose to speak rudely in front of me. Their attitude was disrespectful and arrogant. I certainly won’t be returning to this place, as they don’t deserve my business.

Good selection of specialty dried foods and teas. They were helpful and courteous! Prices were fair. Located in the middle of the Asian-inspired shopping center across from 99 Ranch market.

If there is an opportunity, I would give 0 star. The working staff there were rude and impatient. I will never visit here again.

1 star mainly for their bird nest, got a box of bird nest for 250g $800. it has so much bird hair that I need to manually picked out for 2 hrs everytime. The quality of the bird nest is not good and they adversting their nest are very little hair and easy to consume. I think I would try out other brand. No matter what grade u getting, still have many hair.

Ok selection of stuff. My only complaint is I couldn’t check out. Waited 20 minutes for some $12000+ Transaction to go through. Guess Chinese medicines are in strong demand these days.
