I came to see Dr. Bennett for an immune IV drip. Once I was there I explained to her that I have an auto-immune disease therefore I was dehydrated. She was friendly and told me she was going to place the IV in my hand because it was the most visible vein. She place the IV needle in my hand and injected the serum but my hand got swollen and she explained to me that the serum got outside the vein therefore she was going to relocate the IV. My hand was swollen and she told me to put ice on it and the serum should be gone by morning. We proceeded with the IV in my arm and everything went well from there. I left feeling good with the service and overall felt she was friendly.
The following morning my hand was still swollen, so I waited a second day before contacting her. Once I contacted her I let her know my hand was swollen and starting to bruise, and asked what following steps I should take to take care of my hand.l send her a picture of my hand as well. I did not get an response, I waited another day to contacted her again and nothing. It had been 5 days after my appointment so I went to the doctor and got treatment. They explained to me that the vein had burst but thankfully there was no infection or blood clot. I got put on treatment for my hand, the nurse that gave me treatment explain that it is possible for that to happen when someone is really dehydrated.
I understand situations happen, especially considering the autoimmune disease I have, however choosing not answer your patients is really disappointing. Do better.
