I made the appointment; drove 120 miles to be there. My thyroid issues were first diagnosed in 1995. I suffer from night sweats; stubborn weight; itchy dry skin, peeling nails; falling hair; thinning eyebrows and also cardiovascular disease. I’ve tried many solutions. The owner of the company did an interview with me, which took about 30 minutes. She then dismissed me with a promise to send links for appropriate supplements for my symptoms. Those links have never been forthcoming. I’ve contacted them 3 times to remind them. My impression was: since I live so far she was not interested in helping me. I wouldn’t be a money source for the business.

Saw ad on Facebook for free thyroid check, they had me remove my socks and shoes, and stand on a special scale, which gave my weight, my
BMI, my water content etc… no one touched me! No one felt my thyroid! This was supposed to be a free consultation which included lab test for thyroid… “Dr. Jennifer, CN”. Certified Nurse took me back to front counter and asked the receptionist book me an appointment with lab, then she asked me for $184.00 for the lab work! I was shocked because Dr. Jennifer said they took Kaiser as a form of payment which apparently they didn’t! After the receptionist asked the CN what to do, she was instructed to give me the list of “extensive” test that needed to be done. It was one sheet of paper with two columns of test, that were mostly urine and a few blood test. Remember this was all supposed to be free!!! I’ll show this list to my doctor and see what he has to say!

I have to say that my experience with Apex has been so helpful in regaining my health. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto Thyroiditis in 2006 and on medication for 9 years before getting a new evaluation from an Endocrinologist in 2015. Even with the medication I was low on energy and could not lose the extra 20 pounds gained during the thyroid issue (thyroid storm). The Endocrinologist thought I may have been misdiagnosed and removed the medication. All my labs remained normal, but I still felt lousy.

Even though I have been eating organic, pesticide free, GMO free and gluten free for 8 years, I was not able to regain my energy or health. I had seen a Naturopathic Doctor who helped a little with the symptoms, but did not have a comprehensive program to help me heal.

Beside thyroid issues, I also had really bad GI pain, abnormal stools, bloating, severe gas issues, poor sleep and moderate PMS. I had been hesitant in seeking help from a Functional Medicine Doctor due to cost, but I was determine to regain my health this year. I was also skeptical because of my experience with the Naturopathic Doctor.

I went to the talk Dr. Scharf offered, but she was ill that day and Jennifer did the workshop on hormones. Everything she said resound with me. I took the leap and have been on this journey of healing for 5 months. I went through the detox, where I lost 5 pound and the bloating. I still had GI issues so I was not ready to believe that I was better.

Then I was given an individualize supplement plan including the right foods to eat. Within days of my body getting the right supplements that were missing, I started to shed another 10 pounds, feel alive again, and all GI symptoms have resolved, most notably the gas. It is important to inform you that there are foods I have to give up to remain healthy (like gluten). I am okay with eliminating foods from my diet because I feel great.

I am just getting started at supporting my hormones and I was told that it is about a 6 month process before seeing those changes. I am looking forward to see what else happens in the next 6 months.

In retrospect, I believe that the cost is a real investment in my life. Like my husband says, "You can not put a price on health." I also believe that paying (what I felt at the time was a large cost), kept me accountable to stick with the program and make better choices everyday.

The staff is kind and helpful. Dr. Scharf, Jennifer and Sarah are all professional and informative. I appreciate them all.

I found Apex Functional Medicine in Walnut Creek, attended a seminar and decided to sign up for their reverse diabetes program. After one month on the program my medical Doctor reduced my medications and I was feeling better than I had in years. Now, 6 month into this my A1C levels have dropped from 7.7 to 5.5 and I lost 20 lbs. Dr. Sharf of Apex Functional Medicine, as well as Jennifer Meredith the Nutritionist are both top level professionals who go through great length to impart their knowledge to their patients with patience and care. I can highly recommend Apex, their treatment plan and patient care.

I went to Apex for aesthetic services. I had been searching for someone to do micro needling and prp for some time. I found that Apex offered it. I was very nervous because I had not been to this office or knew the person doing the treatment, but I was also really desperate to try something for my skin. My face had tiny bumps all over and some very dry patches, I also had very dark circles under my eyes. My doctor had given me some treatments, but I was getting worse, and nothing was done for dark circles. I took a chance and came here and was very happy I did!!! After my second micro needle treatment my skin was clearer and softer than it had been in YEARS!!! my dark circles were gone! Linda was so nice and very professional, she was great!! the office is very clean and professional, and I will continue to keep going.

I started working with Apex Advanced Medicine to help with my hormone imbalances , a propensity towards low blood sugar and sinus inflammation issues that I just couldn’t get rid of. Once I started talking with Jen during our first meeting I also realized that I had been dealing with digestion issues that I had put aside as being nothing to be concerned about. After doing a couple of lab tests, and getting a plan on how to support all of the above in place, I was feeling better within a few weeks.
