My PCP suggested and referred me to asaom, suggesting I get an appointment with "Jacki". After some budget wrangling, I got the appointment! Accupuncture has a 'cumulative' effect, so I was concerned, but Jacki was friendly, personable, very well trained, and I had immediate results! My pharmaceutical needs have finally DECREASED! The acupuncture sessions are relaxing yet encouraging and affirming! Jacki is amazing ; they are thorough and friendly and worth every dollar! There is also a 'community clinic' available at discounted rates.

The staff and the students at the school are great! They walked me through the entire process, did a brief medical screening. Andrea (instructor) was in the room the entire time when Nick (student) was going through the acupuncture treatment. The acupuncture pins did not hurt at all it felt like a flick. After the acupuncture was done I got a massage to finish the treatment, and I felt great. If I could illustrate what it felt like it would be as if my back with tension and knots was a balloon and after the pins went in all the air from the balloon was released, well all of the tension and knots were released. After the massage was over I was informed about another type of therapeutic massage which is called Tui Na. This was done by nick and once again he did a great job! The treatment consisted of a massage and cupping. Cupping did not hurt at all and the massage was very good. The cupping marks don’t last more than a week and it’s amazing how the real dark cupping marks stay around the area where I had most of my back problems. This was my first treatment of both types of therapy and I will definitely be coming back. I recommend this for anyone with back problems, It WORKS!

I want to love this place, but have felt a weird lack of empathy from students who've treated me here. The actual acupuncture has seemed adequate-- at the very least, I never felt worse afterwards-- but the vibe has always been a little off. Just one experience might be chalked up to an individual student, but overall the vibes have been off here over multiple sessions. No major red flags, but I wouldn't recommend this student clinic, especially as other community acupuncture resources exist in Tucson.

My student acupuncturist did amazing! After having my knee surgery I had a lot of residual swelling, stiffness, and pain. The student knew exactly what to do to address these issues. It was my first ever acupuncturist session and I have to say I will definitely be going back! Given that it has taken me months since my surgery to get to this point of pain and inflammation it will probably take me a while to get back to normal however just leaving the session I was feeling 1000 times better. I look forward to my second scheduled appointment. And I’m anxious to try the cupping experience as well.

AVOID THIS PLACE!!!! THEY HAVE NO RESPECT FOR PATIENTS!
I was asked and yet not given the option to deny an additional student being present during treatment. I understand that it is a school and students need to learn. As a patient/client it is about my privacy and comfortability. It should be my choice. I should be shown that proper respect and consideration as a person and patient. Especially as a female patient, my choice shouldn't be taken away in regards to my comfortability and privacy. It is beyond unacceptable to force someone into doing something that they are uncomfortable with, especially forcing someone while in a vulnerable position.

Teaching school or not, you have a responsibility to respect the patient and what they are comfortable with. Michaelson (director @ institute) and this facility have no respect for patients. Wouldn't recommend this place.

Per their response below...can tell they do not care about the patient. Teaching facility or not, you have responsibility in making clients feel safe, protecting their privacy and honoring their rights as a patient.

Traditional Chinese medicine works. It is classified as complementary and integrated medicine under NIH.

I practice Tai chi, but didn’t try Tuina and Accupunture before. So several times I tried both. Tuina reduces pain by working through your jinruo. It is very comfortable and relaxing. Accupunture worked for me when I had a little pain in my right leg. About 20 minutes later, my pain was almost gone.

The school’s price is great. I keep coming back.
