LOVE this place- so much. Joel and Britt are so friendly and helpful. My dog and I had such a great time in our training course these last few weeks, and I mean it when I say it WORKS! She went from a crazy puppy to a well mannered companion. We will be taking more classes soon! I love the environment there, welcoming and room for error. It’s a great learning experience

I was so happy that I found this training place. I was so nervous but everyone was so inviting & helpful. We enjoyed watching a few of the trials as well. Very very impressive teaching!
I’d highly recommend dog training here . I was so amazed at how quickly my dog learned.

I met people here to adopt a dog I found on Craigslist. We arrived around 10:45 PM, and there was a line of cars up and down the street filled with dogs in crates. Nobody was occupying the cars, instead it looked as though they were keeping dogs in there overnight. The dog we adopted is severely traumatized by humans and the slightest sound makes him hide under the bed. Not sure if he was from this center, but the people we got him from said it was their “training club”. I’m not sure what exactly happens to the dogs that stay there overnight, but after seeing so many dogs in crates in the trunks of so many cars I was in disbelief. Please do not put your dog through the same trauma our new dog obviously went through.

I have trained 2 GSD with Joel. He is kind, patient and knowledgeable! His way of training has been such a good experience for myself and my dogs. I have learned so much about my dogs and how to teach them to be well behaved and have fun. And Britt, Joel wife is a pleasure to work with as well.

This is the best place if you want your dog to learn. Joel’s background is a unique combination of a school teacher experience, and a high level international competition in dog sport which sets him apart from anyone else in this field. Joel Monroe has all the insight, knowledge, patience, love for this sport and passion to see your dog succeed. He has what it takes to turn an unruly puppy and a totally inexperienced dog owner into a team. His ability to understand both human and dog psychology is what makes all the difference, his passion for sport turns handlers into captivated disciples. He does not sugar coat and gives it to you straight. Above anything Joel wants your team to succeed and puts in a tremendous effort to see that it happens. There are a lot of great handlers out there, natural ones, that can get their dog to do anything. Joel can teach you to become one even if you were not born to do it.

My Dobermann "Drago" and I are 1/2 way through the intermediate class. Drago is young, 85-90 lbs. and full of energy.....before we came to class at Big Valley Dog Training, he would nearly pull my arm off when we would go for walks. That issue is behind us now thanks to Joel.
The training area is always well groomed, clean, and is fenced and secure. Joel is an outstanding teacher for dog AND owner. From what I here from others, Joel teaches not only beginning obedience classes, but competition obedience, tracking, and advanced guard dog training.
I enjoy my dog so much more now, but I must say that making time for the class is a big commitment. And, the commitment doesn't stop at the end of the class time as there is much repetition needed for both dog and owner to make the commands a routine. Like most things in life, the size of the reward that a person receives, depends on how much time and commitment that they are willing to put in to it.
