Enjoyed here at first. I was a beginner and looking for a gym to train at. I Happened to walk in one day and they were most helpful asking to join and give it a go so I did. All different levels here so all the members were quite helpful because I was starting out. Showing me correct technique etc. I happened to be doing kettlebell swings one day and one of the guys who worked there I caught him sniggering at me. It made me feel quite insecure. I guess he was laughing at the weight I was swinging compared to the rest of the guys. Found it quite condescending. Because of this I wouldn't recommend,

If you can actually register, it's an ok place to drop in. It took me 3 emails and 2 phone calls over the span of 2 weeks to finally get registered for a drop in while I was in town. Once there I found the gym small and sub par. No T-shirts in stock and also extra fee for a shirt if you wanted one. all other drop ins I've done include that with your fee. This one charged $30 drop in fee + 25-30 for a shirt. I should've went elsewhere but the gym was literally 2 blocks from where I was staying.

A great gym. Has an old school feel too it. The programming is great and they have a strong fundamentals program. Would recommend it to anyone looking to get fitter or anyone who is new to CrossFit looking for experienced coaches.

I joined Dogtown in 2011, in my mid-40s, and it has transformed my life. I had to begin with private sessions with Liz Burns, partly to learn all the fundamental movements (I had never done Olympic lifts or burpees etc) but also to identify specific areas of weakness or inflexibility and address them earlyβ€” almost like physical therapy. I definitely needed that "mobility work."
I also needed running coaching, so they had me work with Josh Gallegos, a certified endurance trainer. I loved running as a teen but as an adult had problems and pain, so didn't do much of it (except occasional trail-running while camping). I discovered my stride was all wrong; Josh's training unlocked the secrets of middle-distance running for me, and I have fallen in love with it again.
During that time they eased me into regular Crossfit classes, and all their coaches are excellent: observant, knowledgeable, well-prepared, and consummately skilled in all the movements they teach. Dogtown coaches are masters of creative scaling of movements so that a wide range of fitness and strength levels can all participate in the same class and all be challenged to our limits but not beyond them. The only injury I've witnessed is my own, when I dropped an iron weight on my own foot... because I was not doing what they taught me. πŸ˜‰
Besides all this, Dogtown also strongly supports cancer research toward vaccines and cures, through their annual Crush Cancer event!

TLDR: great gym, great coaches, great community, I'm grateful for Dogtown.
