Other than some very limited track and field experience in high school (which was a bad experience for me) before I moved to California, I was a very inactive person before starting Elite Spartans. However, one of my close friends has been joined this gym for a couple months already and have been getting good results so I decided to give this a shot. He did warn me this would be a very intense gym and they were very serious.

And boy, he was right! However, even though the personal/group training was quite intense, they adapted to my skill level to make sure that I was slightly overwhelmed to make sure I got better. After about a couple months of personal/group training, I finally got to try their weightlifting and conditioning classes and boy they were tough but they were quite doable for me by then. I never thought I would be able to handle their circuits but look where I am now.

Victoria, Knight, Robert, Andy, Hao and Alex really made sure I got the the fundamentals down, adapted to my skill level but still keeping the intensity up for me (I haven't gotten a chance to work with Michelle or Emily often enough yet). I'm shocked that I even have access to this type of training, something that I probably wouldn't get back home from Ohio.

Now I have a good foundation of exercises and I noticed that my cardiovascular system has greatly improved and that I have more energy throughout the day. Not to mention that the things I thought only "the jocks" could do is well within my range. Never thought I would be doing 7 exercises for 3 rounds for 2 sets in about an hour non-stop is something that I was capable of to begin with but here I am. And now I got my spouse to start personal training at ES and I can't wait to see how much he's going to excel and how much further I can go.

Elite Spartans has really made high intensity workouts more accessible to the masses and not just for professional athletes and I am quite grateful for that.

This is my second time coming back to this gym. I used to come here back in 2023 and really enjoyed the classes which is why I returned. 🙂 What I love most about Elite Spartans is that the all the fitness coaches push you to your full potential and help you as much as they can to reach your goals. I love that the classes are 45 minutes each which seems short but lemme tell you ! In those 45 minutes they challenge you intensely. They are very flexible with everyone’s schedule which is awesome ! I continue to come to this gym everyday and not planning to leave anytime soon, it’s great. I definitely recommend coming here if you are looking to start your fitness journey.

I attended the free Running Workshop put on by Michelle and Alex and I learned so much more about running! I used to be a runner and was part of a women's running group in my neighborhood. We had so much fun training and running 5Ks, 10Ks and half marathons. We lasted 5 years and disbanded due to schedule changes and injuries. After attending this workshop, I am excited to start running again. I learned the importance of stretching and really taking the time to do some stretches that Alex demonstrated. This workshop was very beneficial to me because I would like to be a runner again! Thank you Elite Spartans!

This is a great gym, I took a few bootcamp classes and felt amazing after. The weightlifting classes are also great and I always end up leaving with an insane pump. Trainers are all highly knowledgable and cool people. I highly recommend this gym to anyone trying to level up/start their fitness routine!

I attended the body boot camp class as a guest and I was very impressed. Emily was very motivating and the class was soooo challenging! I live in San Diego and was in San Jose for the holidays so I joined the class with my parents and sisters. It was fun to be able to take the class with them!

The class is good. Not joining because of its expensive and it's far for us and we want majorly weight lifting class which is not available later in day 6 pm onward so makes it hard to work towards goal we want. But overall, great staff, loved the vibe.

Shoutout to the amazing front desk staff for welcoming me to my first Elite Spartans class and for Victoria for absolutely destroying me in today’s weight lifting group class!

We went through 2 sets of 3 rounds of 7 different exercises and packed that all in within 40 minutes. Even though I play basketball regularly and weight lift here and there, I was not prepared for this brutal round robin of humbling punishment.

I’m just lucky my sister Michelle was busy with a personal training session because I wouldn’t have made it out alive if she taught the class today (not that Victoria went easy on me or gave me any newbie rest breaks!).

As someone who wasn't physically active (aside from cycling) before starting personal training back in July, I was very nervous to do personal training. Initially, I was skeptical of this place but decided to give it a shot after all reading all the reviews. After all, worse case scenario is that I go to another place that I jibe with.

From the trial session with Victoria (the head coach), I was made very comfortable with this place and started to become not only less skeptical of this place but started building confidence in myself in starting an active lifestyle. Yes, my first session, I barely made it through 3 sets of 3 exercises; the attitude that Victoria with instilling confidence that i can do it given enough time.

Within about 3-4 sessions, I was able to start doing the full routine. Of course, I knew that personal training would only be 1/3 of my progress and the other 2/3 would be "doing my homework" and applying what I learn in personal training. So I signed up for a gym membership and going regularly. I say without the motivation and the character of the coaches I had (Victoria, Hao and Knight) so far, I probably wouldn't develop the habit of going to the gym. Seriously, their attitude as well their motivation encourage me to form these healthy habits.

About my 7th session of personal training, I was approached by Victoria and Alex (the owner) if I wanted to do the "back to school challenge" which included a bunch of things; the main benefit is during the challenge, you have access to the class during the challenge. I decided to try out their strength training HIIT style class.

First HIIT style class, I was mainly confused but I was able to work my way through thanks to the wonderful coaching I got from the personal training session. Within a few sessions (I go every Sun, Tues and Thur in addition to Sat personal training), I was able to get into a groove of things and able to actually get through the HIIT training. Of course, they still aren't easy but the coaches during the training are motivating and will keep you guessing! And the people in the class are great!

Fast forward to now (About 3 months as of writing this) and I'm surprised of the exercises that I can do now! As I said earlier, I also do a significant amount of homework outside of the classes and training. However, the attitudes of the coaches, front staff and Alex really motivates to do my part. Honestly, I don't know if I would have as much progress in a short amount of time (to me) if it wasn't for them.

Obviously now I am a convert because of Elite Spartans. Could I have made this much progress in other places? Maybe. But the culture fit between the staff, the community and myself is the reason why I am able to get as far as I did, in a surprising amount of time to me.

In terms of costs, yes they can be a bit pricey, especially for personal training. This is however the Bay Area and honestly, I am very happy to pay that price because the staff is honestly that deserving of my hard earn money. Plus, in comparison to other trainers within the bay, they are about the middle of the pack. Not saying it's cheap, it is an investment. However, you need to invest beyond your checkbook, you also need to put in the time to do the homework (in terms of learning nutrition, developing reasonable eating habits that works for you and progressively overloading AND practicing exercises that you learn).

If someone like me who couldn't even do a basic row on a TRX at first can now lift "fairly heavy" barbells, dumbbells, kettle balls, do a reasonable modified pull up for 3 sets within about three months can do it, there's a good chance to do it. It's just the matter of doing it, being motivated and ultimately putting in the time.

Anyways, if you are looking to go from zero to something awesome, I suggest giving Elite Spartans a slot on the list to try. From what I can tell, they do have trial personal class at a discount rate and they do have free trial classes.

Five stars well deserved.
