3/18/25——After spending glorious days basking in the paradise that is Key West, we made our way up to Hallandale—straight into a VRBO disaster. Two rentals, two fails. We held out for two days before pulling the plug, even though we had five more nights booked. Desperate for salvation, we checked into the W, where things finally started looking up.

Once settled, I figured it was time to get back on track with workouts. Key West had kept me too busy for that, so I did a quick search—F45 and CrossFit popped up. I went with F45. Left the dog chilling in the hotel room, called a Lyft, and braced myself. The ride was as warm as an ice bath. The driver barely slowed down before kicking me out near a plaza, making no effort to help me find the gym. So there I was, wandering around like a lost tourist, past 8:30 AM, still clueless.

In a last-ditch effort, I stepped into Imperial Moto, a coffee shop, and asked for directions. The lady pointed at a round building—“That one.” I sprinted over, found an elevator with a sign for F45, Suite 200, and made the rookie mistake of getting in. Nope. That wasn’t it. Turns out, the gym is attached to the Citizens Bank Building, and you have to go through the second set of double doors—no elevator involved. Thankfully, a kind stranger saw my struggle and directed me correctly. For reference, F45 is in the round part of the building, which, at a quick glance, looks like the bridge of a cruise ship. If only I had brought my binoculars.

Since I arrived late, there was no time for introductions—I just jumped into the workout. The place was spacious, the crowd was small, and I gave it my all. Didn’t quite hit 150 BPM, but I got up to 145 BPM, which I’ll take as a win. Moral of the story? Always double-check your VRBO, don’t trust Lyft drivers for navigation, and if your gym looks like a cruise ship, bring a map. I looked for. A number to call didn’t see any . The workout? It took me a bit to get out of the “I’m late” mentality, but once I did, I just felt thankful to be there. No stress, just movement. As quickly as I went in, I left—and rewarded myself with a smoothie from Imperial Moto.

I have only attended one class. However, everything met my expectation: trainers, circuit, other clients, and environment. This gym will definitely be part of my workout rotation.
