On the outset, I had talked to a few different trainers, but John had a good vibe and I generally felt confident with his approach to correct form. In addition to being a highly knowledgeable trainer, he's also just a rad human! Definitely recommend giving him a call.

I worked out with John 2x a week for over 6 months while easing back into shape. My goals were to gain muscle and avoid injury, and he helped me achieve both. I had a DEXA scan, measuring body fat and lean muscle, before and right at the end of our time together, and I had a pretty big improvement, which we were both stoked about.

I knew I would eventually "graduate", and John set me up to be able to move forward on my own in a gym and feel more confident creating workouts for myself. He even checked in with me a few weeks later to see how I was doing and if I needed help decoding any of the machines.

I have been training with John for just over two years now. Simply put, I have had a meaningful difference in my overall health and fitness. I’m able to get in a high quality 45 min workout just twice a week and hit on all the areas I need to (and quite certain I won’t truly hit on if left to my own devices- ie core strength, flexibility, etc.). Our sessions give me full interval training so I not only build strength in areas of need but I also get a good cardio workout as well. An unexpected positive from working with John has also been a more mindful approach to how I balance my diet along with my exercise. It’s great as John has a lot of tips about diet and how to integrate healthier foods and at what time of day. We talk a lot about the workouts focusing on strength building that will help me feel better as I age into the “second half of life” and also the diet trade offs I can make so I don’t have to remove (or feel guilty about) happy hour on the weekends. Overall, working out with John has been a huge improvement - there are things I now do regularly at volume that I could barely do when we started. The motivation to carry that into other areas of managing overall health has been huge. John is super easy to communicate and train with and is also very flexible with whasome very quick scheduling changes due to my job. He makes the training a lot of fun and I appreciate his commitment to making me better. Big ups to John, he takes the time to understand each person’s individual needs and customizes a program to meet (and set new) goals. I definitely recommend!

John is an incredible trainer. I am a very active person, but in the past, didn't really like group fitness classes. A few months ago, I decided to sign up for John's virtual group workout classes and it has been a game changer. The classes are a challenging workout, but John makes exercising more fun with his positivity, enthusiasm, and motivation during each class. I really enjoy his creativity of exercises and how he keeps each circuit different and fresh for each class. I am so thankful for the virtual workout classes. Highly recommend Gillham Fitness!

John is a fantastic trainer that personalizes your program to you and your needs. As someone who had never gone to the gym, he did a great job conditioning my body to adapt to more regular physical activity, increasing my endurance and flexibility, and challenging me to be stronger.

Shortly after finishing his training program, I had the misfortune of dealing with a flood to my basement, by spending 4+ hours draining the area with only a bucket and climbing up and down the stairs. But because I went through his program, my body recovered within a day as opposed to feeling sore and exhausted for a few days to a week following intensive physical activity in the past. And I'm able to keep up with my hyperactive dog during his playtimes and "walks" (aka pulling me) better. Highly recommend his services if you're looking to feel reinvigorated and more energetic.

I have been fortunate to be training with John for quite some time now. He makes every workout challenging no matter what your fitness level. Over time, I have become so much stronger and overall healthier. I know that I could not be in this shape by just going to a gym on my own. He's been my personal trainer and now I am a part of his small group sessions 3x a week. We have fun while working hard. Come on by and give this fitness center a try.

I've been working out with John for 5+ years and I can't say enough about him as he's an outstanding trainer. He's passionate and constantly upgrading his knowledge and skill which translates to better and more diverse workouts. I've lost a lot of weight (20lbs) and have gotten my blood pressure under control and I attribute much of his improvement to John!
