Great gym! Over the last 17 years I've been going there, and it's been 7 years since since I've been there last until I went this morning. There's soo many improvements and changes that I don't remember seeing last time when I took the Muay Thai class with Ed. Several options. Great selection of equipment. Drop in rate is affordable, along with membership prices (get auto pay). Front desk/payment was a breeze, and the vibe was very pleasant. Will go again 🙂

This gym runs on a lot of dedicated volunteers and staff. With no subsidies, it's up to the membership money and thousands of hours of volunteer service to keep it running so well. It's a total gift to workout in a building that is founded and ran by such devotion. We are part of the largest volunteer effort in Alaska and together we truly achieve more. Thanks to all the folks who understand, participate, and stay healthy...allowing others to do the same!

This is such an amazing community center for a small town! Everything you need plus more. Daily, monthly and annual rates are available. A variety of classes with quality instructors are offered as well. Operating as a non-profit, the center is driven and funded by it's members and volunteers which makes it especially unique!

Although I understand the need to have certain time restrictions during covid, I think the price is a bit high for the limited hours. Other than that its a good, clean facility that is rarely overcrowded and has a wide assortment of equipment to fit most needs.

It's ok.
Expensive for the limited amount of cardio machines, and classes cost extra. Limited Saturday hours, when they should be open all day to serve working people. It's the lack of competition that keeps the price so high with little services.
They could never get away with this in the Lower 48, but it's a different game up here and we have to be grateful for what we do have.

Hames Center is an awesome place for fitness and family fun. When I arrived in Sitka I looked for a fitness facility and found Hames. It is where I spend my week, whether working out or volunteering time. If you come to Sitka find the Hames Center become a member and also join the awesome volunteer crew to help make Hames the best fitness Alaska has to offer.

Great place, and with covid restrictions it's still a good area to work out. Could use more machines but it gets the job done.
