Wish I could give 0 stars. I usually don’t write reviews but I felt so uncomfortable in my experience here as a black woman. The doctor acted like he didn’t even want to invite me into the office to ask what was wrong and he didn’t seem to care too much. He ended up suggesting these pills to me and I bought them mainly because I felt they assumed i wasn’t going to buy anything. If you’re White or Asian you will probably have a positive experience as I saw how the other customers were treated vs how I was. I was so excited too to try out Chinese Herbal Medicine. Not a welcoming place for black people.

I've been coming here for years, myself and my son, for stomach ailments, colds and earaches that won't go away, bladder issues, and symptoms that my Western doctor can't seem to figure out or just wants to mask the symptoms of. Highly recommend. Sometimes there is a wait, other times we've walked right in. Either way, you get to be seen by a highly experienced doctor right away who prescribes herbal remedies that help put your entire body back into balance. Powerful stuff. And I love watching the herbalist take the beautiful herbs out of drawers and mix them into little paper packets you take home and brew up. They sold me a really inexpensive clay pot the first time I came here to brew the herbs and I still use it years later. Doctor visit and herbs are very fairly priced. Really grateful that this kind of medicine is available where we live and that the doctor and store shop owner are welcoming to us.

The doctor here prescribed herbs that effectively helped my cold symptoms. I had pounding headache, sinus pressure, sore throat, intermittent coughing and sneezing, and general weakness. While the herbs were bitter, they worked well.

note 1 -- the clay pot is cheaper, but can be a bit tricky to get right with proportions and the stove you have at home. initially the instructions were to boil the herbs on high, and then once boiling, put it on medium high for 1.5 hours. 4 mugs of water should yield 1 mug. however the first night all the water ran out and burnt the clay pot >< . the next night I used slightly more than 4 mugs of water , and put it on low after boiling for 45 minutes, and then let it cool. it yielded 1 large mug. after a couple years, I got the electric pot to prepare the herbs. it's convenient, but more expensive than the clay pot. both kinds of pots are available at Hoan Cau note 2 -- folks speak English. customer service might be different than what westerners expect.

The rudest humans work here. The lady in the front is extremely impolite and just plain rude, in these times at an herbal shop she acts like she doesn’t want customers in her shop. It makes one wonder why is she even open for business?
