As a brown belt with extensive experience in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu along with extensive experience at other academies, I can confidently say this academy deserves 5 stars.

The cleanliness of the facility is impeccable, contrary to what a previous one-star review mentioned. That review seems more like the frustration of a parent than an honest critique. Being a father myself, I understand it’s difficult for parents to be patient when their child isn’t performing well. But you need to trust the process. Writing a Google review with such outrageous claims such as contracting herpes is not only dishonest, but a true reflection of your character. I hope your son finds a better role model.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is not easy. You don’t get awarded participation trophies for showing up. Sometimes you’re held back to develop more. Sometimes you’re pushed forward before you’re ready to help step your game up.

Aaron and his sons are exceptional instructors who are both patient and passionate about their craft. A purple belt is qualified to give fantastic instruction to anyone starting their journey, and even to practitioners who are 2-5 years experienced. Keep in mind, Aaron’s son is a Ralph Gracie black belt. You’re in good hands here.

They truly care about the development of each student, offering detailed guidance and ensuring the atmosphere is welcoming and supportive for everyone. If you’re looking for top-notch instruction and a clean, respectful environment, this is the place to be in Davis, Ca.

Great BJJ gym and super welcoming to all skill levels. The owner Aaron, alongside his coaching staff do a phenomenal job at cultivating a positive culture that encourages respectful sportsmanship and growing their students fundamental understanding of techniques. As a broke college student, I appreciate how accessible the pricing is, especially compared to other options in the area. I also feel that the hygiene standard for the gym is definitely worth mentioning; in addition to thorough disinfecting of mats after every training session, the staff do a great job of protecting the students by enforcing a strict no training policy if you're suspected of having afflictions like Ringworm, Herpes Simplex, Impetigo, and Staph/MRSA. No disease under the sun is taken lightly at Kaiju.

10/10 Gym, would train here again.

To say that Kaiju BJJ is great is an understatement!

Background: my four-year old has minor physical issues that affect his balance. His physical therapist recommended some exercises to build strength. Having wrestled myself when I was younger, I knew that grappling of some kind would be a great thing for him.

Enter Kaiju BJJ! My family found this academy after TWO friends recommended. They described Coach Aaron and the studio as being extremely welcoming, patient, supportive, and structured. And they were absolutely right! My son and family are warmly welcomed by Coach Aaron every time. He makes a point to get to know every student personally and so that he can determine the right amount of instruction for them. My four-year old is in a class with five and six-year olds. There is a lot of physical and mental development that happens between those ages. But Coach Aaron is able to curate the instruction for each student so that is challenging but still accessible. My son really enjoys the classes, has a smile on his face when he is there, and his physical movements and balance have improved in only a few short months!

We are so glad we found this community and feel grateful to have Kaiju BJJ in Yolo County!

I've trained in several martial arts, and always wanted to dive deeper into BJJ. After doing some research I found Kaiju and decided to try it out. As soon as I walked in the door, I knew this was where I wanted to be. The coaches are amazing, the facility is clean, modern, well kept, and welcoming. Everyone is kind and the whole environment feels like a family. I enrolled my daughter as well and she has never had as much fun as she does here. I cannot recommend Aaron and the team enough.

Kaiju is a friendly, clean, family-run business that really cares about the customers. The coaches have a lot of patience. It's a great place for kids and seems to be popular with adults too! Prices are comparable to other studios in the area.

I’ve trained at Kaiju for about a year, and it’s been by far my best BJJ experience compared to the other gyms I’ve been to (over another year or so of experience). Everyone is friendly and willing to help out beginners, there’s great coverage of gi and nogi classes on the schedule, and there’s no strong pressure to compete or overcommit. I’ve felt no sense of ego, even from higher belts. I really appreciate that you can wear whatever brand gear you want without having to shell out for academy kit. I’ve also had less frequent and less serious injuries there compared to prior gyms. (Unfortunately some injuries are just a reality of training, but I’ve had no major ones at Kaiju.) Since joining, my BJJ has improved a lot and I’ve made some really good friends. If you’re looking for BJJ in Davis, Kaiju is the place.

I started looking for a BJJ gym over a year ago. I fell out of my original plan to join Kaiju, and called months later. Without hesitation or question, I was invited back in to come test out a week of free classes. As a small girl, it’s really intimidating to walk into a BJJ gym; I can’t lie. I showed up to a room of huge sweaty dudes blasting metal music.

But Kaiju knows that it can be intimidating for girls like me, and they respect us showing up anyway. Kaiju instructors are extra attentive, patient, and kind with newbies as they learn the basics. They pushed me to try, and celebrated with me when I succeeded.

The instructors here don’t care how much or how little you know; or what you look like. They care about respect, safety, cleanliness, and an eagerness to absorb and share knowledge. And that’s all I really need.
