It's important when reviewing this location to separate out the doctors from all the other (very poor) administration practices. The doctors are fine. It's just that they leave regularly. We have been One Medical patients for nearly a decade, and we're now on our 4th or 5th doctor. I think they hire very qualified newer docs who are promised a real life and a 9-5 job, and that appeals to some folks. They get into their roles, however, and find that the organization is a mess and that support just isn't there.

Try and reach the office by phone and you are treated to a nightmare of wait times and some highly distorted digital "music," and then third-party people who get between you and your doctor's office. (They just answer the phone. They hire people for those roles who don't even have the energy to FAKE that they care about you.) The funny thing is, when you sit in the One Medical Seniors office there's a front desk guy there who doesn't have to answer the phone or anything. He sits and fusses with his phone, browses the Internet and then occasionally sends someone into the back rooms to be seen by a doc. They need to immediately get rid of this system that sends patients outside their office for first-tier contact. There's no way that someone has time to twiddle their thumbs in a modern medical practice, so something is clearly wrong here.

This location has had, time and again, people departing and they often do NOT have a staffed laboratory. In our situation, they've twice LOST our urine sample. Ask me how that happens . . . I have no idea how it could happen once, let alone twice. And when they lose it, they ask you to drive back over to do it all over again (the last time they waited nearly a week to call and say it was lost, despite our messages and calls that the sample was in their lab). Or they'll send you to SonoraQuest where you can wait 90 minutes in their busy office just to do the same.

On the plus side, the doctors hired by this organization (and by One Medical, the parent company) do seem to be caring and concerned. I trust that they are competent or we wouldn't keep going back there.

Because you live with your doctor's admin people as much or more than you do your doctor, if considering this location be very aware of the fact that it operates in a sub-standard way from the traditional medical practice where the Doctor-Patient relationship is important. Here, the doctor is surrounded by people who you may not enjoy dealing with. Even the regional manager of the operation, who works from Mesa or Tempe, falls into this category, with the "my way or the highway" attitude of a retail shop manager (as another reviewer said of them). We've waited now for several months for Amazon to turn things around and it appears the problems are not going away.

I have trust they will learn and fix these issues, but we can't wait much longer. Judging by the disappointment I heard in their office from other patients, it's a tough, uphill battle.

I've been a patient for a few years, going back to when they were called iora. I've never had to wait more than a few minutes when I arrive for an appointment. I usually get a full hour with the doctor and life coaches. The staff is friendly and efficient. They do blood draws in the office, and do a great job.

My husband and I both go to Dr. Underwood and our Health Coach Resha. Both are professional and easy to talk to . Dr. Underwood is a listening doctor which I really love. I would go where ever she practices. It doesn’t matter what side of town she is on. I travel fifty five minutes to get to her office.

This is the best place I've ever gotten healthcare from! The whole staff is polite, friendly and professional! They treat you like you're important, I actually enjoy going to my appointments there! I highly recommend Iora Primary Care! They're AWESOME!
I just want to add that Dr. Pena is the nicest doctor I've ever had. She's smart, professional, and listens to you. She treats you like you're very important to her. She's AWESOME!

I have been an Iora patient since 2019. Initially, I was very impressed with the practice, their interactions with me as a patient, their efficiency. Over a few months, I became disenchanted with the physician that was assigned to me so I asked to be switched to one that was recommended by the nurse I'd been working with.

I switched to Dr. Pena and have seen her once, maybe twice. I have no complaints about her treatment. She is an excellent doctor. I've also had some excellent PAs, one of whom diagnosed pneumonia over a telehealth visit hearing a wheezing the I couldn't even hear. I can't say the same about my case managers - one or two good ones, the rest don't seem to be able to manage my case. I also had some counseling with Morgan, who was terrific.

Over the past year or so, I've become more and more frustrated with their lack of communication. At least twice I've addressed something on their patient portal because the implied message is you can message them through the portal if you're not experiencing an emergency. And twice now -- in 3 months -- I've received no response to the portal message. A couple of the staff at Iora have said the best way (though not perfect) to reach them is through text messages. I have had absolutely NO LUCK with the telephone.

So bottom line is this: I'm looking for another primary care physician. I'm going to avoid the IORAs/OneMedicals/Oak Street Health type facilities. I don't think they live up to their promises. I was originally glad to go to a facility that claimed to specialize in elder care but they seem to assume that because I'm older, I have lots of time of my hands to try and contact them. Sorry, but that's not the way I choose to spend my time.

I’ve been a patient at this location since 2019. When I joined Iora I was assigned to a primary doctor and a health coach.
I was able to review all my test results through their portal, along with notes from my doctor regarding any concerns, changes or suggestions she had. My health coach was my go to person when I needed assistance.
Since then, I’ve had a mammogram and a bone density scan. I’ve sent numerous requests to my health coach, inquiring about my test results. Zero communication from anyone. My account in my portal hasn’t been updated since last year. I called and spoke with a young man in April requesting information about my test results. He didn’t have any updates for me either. Said he would follow up with me. Since then I received a letter from the imaging center I used for my mammogram and learned the test came back normal. I still don’t know about my bone density results.
As a patient, is this the new norm now?
Is it up to the patient to chase after test results but never receive a reply ?

I recently moved from Denver, Colorado and shortly after my arrival to this fine town of Phoenix, Arizona, I was very fortunate to find Iora Primary Care.

Having just signed up for Medicare, I was a little gun-shy while looking for a primary care doctor. I noticed that Iora has 3 or 4 offices in the greater Phoenix area, and found out that the Greenway office is closer to where I live.

But, location is not what sold me. I called them and was greeted by a friendly live person-- not a recording. After setting a visit for an initial appointment (which I had to cancel), they followed thru with a reminder call to re-schedule and when they did they were able to get me in for a physical in about a week.

The best part though is visiting their office. I was greeted by my name and a smile from the attendants at the front desk. My first visit as a new patient took about 2 hours because I had the opportunity to sit down
face-to-face in a comfortable setting with not only a doctor but a health coach and a behavioral health specialist as well.

They gave me an opportunity to express my needs and expectations as a patient here, and they questioned me kindly and thoughtfully about my health history.

After our interview, I was examined by Dr. Gurule and she put my mind at ease about a few things going on in my body. The nurses had a great sense of humor, and the procedures were done respectfully and professionally.

To anyone who is looking for warmth, humanity and humor in a primary care provider, I highly recommend checking out Iora on Greenway.

The most amazing medical care team that I've ever experienced! My husband and I are both patients of Dr. Pena and we couldn't be any more impressed with her medical knowledge.. she spends the time with you, listens to your concerns and genuinely cares about her patients. She gets a 5 star in my book!!
