You can find everything you need at this Safeway. Nice selection of vegetables, fruits, meats, seafood, baked goods, durable goods, and much more. Useful bathroom and a Starbucks for those stopping by on the way up to Tahoe. Large parking lot makes it very easy to find parking. Friendly and helpful staff.

This store has terrible customer service and attempted to scam our online order. I was helped by Alyssa at checkout and she was incredibly rude. She also charged me for the groceries of the person behind me even though we had a separator in between our groceries so it was clear that we weren't paying together. I had tapped my card to pay for my items and since she didn't finish the transaction, it saved my card info and she ran the transaction after ringing up the groceries of the person behind me.

My friend also had a pickup order that had a substitution for a balloon. Alyssa was the one who gave us our order but never mentioned that the substitutions would charge extra even though the item was practically the same. We initially paid $2 for a balloon and she substituted it with a balloon priced at $58!!!!! This singular balloon does not cost $58 when rung up in the store. The price was clearly inputted manually on the online order to charge the card on file over $50 more than the actual cost of the product. We had to go through a lot of trouble getting a refund. This is incredibly unprofessional! Not to mention our order was not ready for the time that we scheduled it for. We typically shop at the W Covell location without any problems and will never be going to this Safeway location again.

The staff is great! The whole digital coupon thing, however, is beyond annoying. I don't want to have to download an app and use my phone while I'm shopping! Why have we arrived at this stupid moment in time? I just want to go in and buy what I need. If something I need is on deep sale with a digital coupon, I just do without, or get it from another store.

Supply can be sparse at times for very specific items such as hamburger helpers, but overall good. Mostly coffee here for sandwiches for lunch and both the pre-made and deli selections are good. Extra discount card if you're a UC Davis employee

I always find what I need, customer service is very polite. This Safeway isnt too busy it's best to shop in the early evening it isn't busy around that time.

I would have rated them higher at the beginning of the pandemic when they were actually trying to enforce distancing. They had a one way up and down system and reminders in the intercom to follow it and to be mindful of distancing guidelines.

Kind of hard to understand why they would take this away during the worst case numbers of the pandemic.

As of late they haven't been opening self service checkouts in the morning. I think by 8am /8:30 you should definitely have self service checkouts open.

I like to limit my in person interactions as much as possible in stores and I always choose to self checkout when possible, it moves faster and you're not standing face to face with a person, yes they have plexiglass at their checkouts but it doesn't actually cover the payment area. Which is definitely less than 6ft between customer and worker. Aside from that if I'm in a store early it's because I need to grab something in a hurry. Having self checkouts is much faster than being in a queue down the aisles. Which in turn makes the aisles too crowded for both those trying to find something on a shelf and the ones standing in line blocking said shelves.

Aside from all this the store is generally clean, has everything you could want/need, and normally at a better price than some of the other stores in Davis

Edit to add that I use the deli here frequently I find it better than the one on covell, and the deli staff are so friendly early in the morning (:

Bakery said they received my cake order for my son's birthday which is today unfortunately no cake order came in never again ill order a cake from them.. disappointed... if I can give there bakery zero stars I would...
