Places has gone down hill, the prices have gone up but the maintenance and the state of the courts is truly disappointing. There are lots of people that love raquetball and it is a shame that the facility is literally getting run down. Usually Mondays the courts are packed today it was pretty much empty , the state of the courts is horrible. Courts need lots of work

I requested to host a pool party for my soccer team (ages 6-9) at this facility with not much time in advance. the aquatics and membership departments worked together diligently to ensure that my team had a wonderful time at their establishment. I was not the most prepared, yet Ken and Kyle while also busy with other responsibilities made me feel welcomed and cared for. We had the pool party with much success, but not without the help of the lifeguards who coordinated amongst each other in accordance with YMCA policy and safety. Lastly, I'd like to give a heartfelt admiration to the lifeguard named Forest. He was not scheduled that day, but made an effort to arrive and assist. This experience made me reminisce of my youth and what the Y truly meant. The ideal place for community and youth development.

Overall I’ve been enjoying my membership, especially the pool! I’ve been teaching my friend how to swim, and mostly the staff and members have been incredibly supportive, until today. A YMCA swim instructor bulldozed her way into the pool and into our space, and another member did the same. It baffles me to think that people feel so entitled that they can literally try to take up the space one is in. At the end of the day, we kept our heads up, and my friend swam for the first time! It was quite exciting 🎉 I’m looking forward to our next series of lessons and for the day that she can say she swims!

Also kudos to the lifeguards and the aquatic director for always making us feel welcome and safe.

Minimal, old and rusty equipment, especially the free weights. Poor to completely non-responsive service and completely apathetic management especially under incompetent Y leadership. Useless for locals in off season as gym switches to extra fee kids camps at the expense of open gym and pickleball schedules. Seems to be a popular community center for 70+ though. Incredibly poor value given the the insane rates and now that its a Y they will be increasing them even more.

Every other gym in 10 miles is better equipped and a MUCH better value.

Coming to this YMCA Branch has been my first experience with the Y! As I’ve been learning how to swim with a friend, the aquatics center has been such a wonderful place due to the kindness, friendliness, and encouraging nature of both the Lifeguards, the Aquatic Director, and the Y Member!

However, I will say I did have a disappointing encounter where I didn’t feel that one of the Y’s Core value — Respect— was demonstrated. It’s the responsibility of both Staff and Members to show respect for the space that’s being offered to the community, or else it jeopardizes efforts to make the Y a safe place.

Despite the encounter, I’d still highly recommend this joining this Y Branch and making use of its serves.

I took my 9 month old to the parent and child swim class today. Everyone is SO kind. The guy at the front desk was very helpful, I did not catch his name. He helped me register and was very engaging when we finished class too.

Ken the aquatics director is such a kind and wholesome person. He heard me say my children’s names and he remembered them and wanted us to feel welcome and important. Multiple people stopped to ask him for information and he was so caring with all of us. He is very passionate about what they do in the aquatics department. He will be helping me register both kids

Julie does such a good job with the kids and parents. She knew we haven’t come to class before and came over to ask our names and let me know what to start doing with the baby in the water. She was very sweet with us and I Didn’t feel embarrassed or intimidated for being new and not knowing what to do.
I was honestly scared to come alone today with the baby but I felt so welcomed and comfortable.

I am interested in bringing my son along and will definitely bring the baby back as well.

CoreSRQ is one of the gems of Sarasota that more people should know about. My family enjoys frequent swims at the Aquatics center in the North Branch. Ken has really achieved something amazing by creating a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. My two children look forward to seeing Ken each week. We started with the family swim lessons until both our little ones became comfortable and skillful swimmers. Ken is like a grandpa to the kids. Outside the pool we echo what they learned from Mr. Ken’s swim class: “Safety first!” And if we go too long without visiting the pool the kids will let us know they miss Mr. Ken!

In addition to the fantastic aquatics center, the gym is great, too. The machines are plentiful and clean. Staff are helpful and friendly. The membership cost is quite affordable for a family. We are so fortunate to have CoreSRQ near where we live. We invite our friends to join and stay fit and healthy. Thank you, CoreSRQ!
