Dr. Downey is absolutely amazing. I was extremely ill and dropped down to 96 lbs in a month. I was having panic attacks regularly and was nearly unable to continue working. I had gone to other medical offices and was only prescribed medications that did not help. I finally called their office and within a month of doing as he instructed and taking the supplements given, I was gaining weight, Stopped having panic attacks and felt like things wer getting back to normal. If youre open to his suggestions and ready to heal, this is the place to go!

Dr. Downey has been a bright light of support especially during the pandemic. He has given me new tools snd information to improve my health. He takes time to listen and I have appreciated the telemedicine appointments, being able to do some of the testing through mail in kits to specialty labs and feeling better overall. I would highly recommend him to anyone wanting to reduce inflammation and balance their hormones!

Dr. Downey is a great person and a great doctor! In 2017, at the peak of my most unhealthy and emotionally broken time of my life, a friend suggested I look into Functional Medicine. The time had come to dig deep into the root of my issues and heal. I met with Dr. Downey and he dove right in to my medical history, current problems and goals with compassion, kindness and incredible knowledge. He is very easy to talk to and I felt comfortable sharing information with him knowing there would be no judgement from him or his awesome staff. He took his time educating me and making available the best resources and supplements to aide me on my way to health. When I have questions at anytime, he always responds to my emails or calls in a timely fashion. Because of Dr. Downey, and his awesome staff, I am a success story! I have discovered so much about how to work towards health in my own individual way (for we are all unique and he treats every person as such). I can not recommend him enough. A great doctor and a great person to truly cares about his patients.

I cannot say enough positive things about the level of care this clinic and Dr. Downey provide.
Three years ago, I was having issues getting pregnant. I visited another doctor who said I was perimenopausal and needed hormone therapy. Being that I was in my early thirties at the time, something about this diagnoses didn't feel right, so I went to Dr. Downey for a second opinion. He ran some adrenal tests and found that adrenal fatigue was the actual culprit. After a few basic lifestyle adjustments and some natural supplementation, I was feeling better after only three months.... and got pregnant! I had a healthy pregnancy, amazing natural birth, and healthy baby boy. I am forever grateful.
I still go to Dr. Downey regularly and he has since helped catch pre-pre-diabetes (runs in my family) through testing. He helped me turn hyperglycemia around within 2-3 months and create changes to the way I eat that will set me up for a lifetime of diabetes prevention.
I am overjoyed to have found a practitioner that offers preventative and less invasive ways to treat patients. Dr. Downey introduced me to Functional Medicine and I am now an advocate for life. I hope that this can become the new standard level of care for the future.

I started getting nauseous and throwing up regularly. My 1st trip to the doctor I was told I was contagious and missed two days of work. A few days later, I was in the ER for fluids. An ultrasound was performed and nothing was found. More trips to the doctor, an endoscopy, another ultrasound, an MRI, and watching the doctor list off half a dozen things it could be, but no answers. I lost 60 pounds from throwing up all of the time. I was miserable. I finally went to see Dr. Downey & within 15 minutes of talking with me and reviewing my medical records, he looked at me and told me it was stress. What!?!? Stress!?!? No way! He recommended 2 supplements and some breathing techniques. Within 2 weeks, I was done throwing up! I felt normal! After a year of misery, thousands of dollars, and tons of missed work he did what no one could do. Listen. He actually heard me and healed me.

I love Dr Downey and all the staff at Seaworthy Functional Medical. Dr Downey really takes time to listen to you and tries to come up with real world solutions that don’t necessarily include prescriptions (thought he can write them as he is a real MD). He looks at the body as a whole and tries to find the source of the problem, as many issues we have are just the symptoms not the problem. Everyone at Seaworthy is out to help you be at optimal health. They also realize you aren’t perfect and struggle. I love that I can call them up when struggling and get suggestions or encouragement. I highly recommend their office for people struggling with long term health effects.
