Great studio--I have been going religiously for around 3 years! Very professional and hands-on. The instructors learn every student's name and offer frequent helpful adjustments. Even the receptionists learn your name, making you feel like you are a part of a community! Even though you are in a class of ~20 students, you get the experience of being in being in a small group class or with a personal trainer. There also frequently offer free classes when new instructors are being trained. I also love that Bar Method is always refining the technique they teach and pursue research and development to make sure they are giving you the safest workout with the most effective results. I have tried another big chain barre studio in Palo Alto and this one is significantly better for roughly the same price!

As a professional yoga teacher, I like to challenge myself with a variety of movements. The Bar Method is very different than yoga, but I love its comprehensive, well-designed program that strengthens and tones major muscle groups in the body. Each class is fast-paced with a mix of familiar and new routines. The classes are challenging, and you will notice the change in your body as you get stronger with regular attendance.

The studio is welcoming with super friendly front desk staff and instructors who address you by your name. The instructors offer clear and precise cues, and their hands-on adjustments are a great help for better alignment and understanding one's body mechanics.

The studio is clean, spacious and well organized. Online class booking and email notifications make it easy to organize your schedule.

All in all, The Bar Method is an efficient and effective way to stay strong and fit. I highly recommend it.

An excellent and clean studio with friendly, knowledgeable staff. The workout will make you sore in places you didn't know you could be sore, but leave you wanting to come back for more. The classes provide a full body workout in an electric, upbeat atmosphere. The instructors provide personalized attention if adjustments are needed and also provide suggestions during the workout if you want to personally challenge yourself more too. In my first 30 days, I feel I am much stronger, have more energy, and can't wait to keep it up.

I love the Bar Method! I started a few years ago with the goal of building more upper body strength, and the workout had almost immediate effects on my entire body. (I remember going for a run after only a few classes, and I felt like I was suddenly running on someone else's (much stronger) legs!) Even with lots of experience behind me now, the instructors all push me further in every class. Small corrections make all the difference, and I've found that the attentiveness of the instructors really distinguishes Bar Method from other workout experiences. It's also a very pleasant, friendly, and clean environment. Membership covers two studios (Palo Alto and San Mateo), which is great for those of us who are constantly up and down between SF and the southern Peninsula. It's certainly not inexpensive, but it's worth every penny for how the workout makes me feel.

Since I started taking classes here I have seen great improvements in my balance, strength, flexibility, and muscle tone. I love how slight modifications can make the exercises much more challenging, so anyone can take a class whether they're a beginner or advanced. This studio has the kindest instructors and receptionists in town and it's always very clean.

After spraining my ankle I saw a physical therapist who suggested that I take yoga to strengthen my ankle and improve my balance. I took a few yoga classes but never quite felt comfortable and often got bored with the slow pace. At the Bar Method I've always felt comfortable in the studio, and the pace is just right. I've taken over 100 classes at this point and I can tell you that this exercise class definitely works - my ankle is completely healed and I feel great. I wish I had started taking classes here much sooner.

Edit: It's now been 2 years since I started at this studio and I've taken about 200 classes here. I am still thrilled with the quality of the instructors, the workout, and the facilities.

I've been taking Bar Method classes for about six months now, and I'm so happy I discovered this exercise studio! I love the three exercise formats (especially the Move class) and the teachers are fantastic. The studio is clean, bright and friendly. The changing room has lovely showers and they provide hair dryers and toiletries. Each class is a great work out, and also a relaxing way to clear my mind and just move with the instructions. I've started getting a lot of compliments on my new slimmer shape and I can feel I've gotten stronger. I did crossfit for years before starting bar, and I had initially thought that Bar Method would be "wimpy" in comparison. I'm happy to have been proven wrong, and even more than 100 classes later, I shake and burn more than I did in the beginning!
