I haven’t came here in a long time but this time I came in to sign my brothers up for soccer. An older lady “helped” me by handing me the clipboard and slapping the pen into it. After I was done with the forms she took it and said nothing. I was at the window waiting to get told the next step or for my money to be received. None of them helped me!! They were just staring at me and not one word. They proceed into moving or reading stuff on their desk I then proceed to ask what’s my total? And the older lady just asks the other lady my total. She then tells me my total and I give my money and ask for a receipt. Aside from this the lady spilt her drink on the forms I had just signed! I am not upset with the rec center as I have always enjoyed my time here. I am upset with the two ladies up front who did not want to help me for who knows what reason and for ignoring me and giving me a poor customer service.

This is a great place to get in shape or stay in shape. They have a 1/10 mile walking track indoors for those who walk or run. They also have a terrific work out area with everything from free weights, weight machines, treadmills, etc. There are 2 racket ball courts and table tennis. I haven't tried out any of the classes, but many people take advantage of the yoga, spinning, & other classes. Childcare is available (at least in the morning). The locker rooms, steam room, sauna, restrooms, and showers are kept exceptionally clean. Their rates are the best in town and they do have greatly reduced rates for senior citizens.

I rate WVRC A+. The full time and part time staff are great. I'm happy that It's important to Liz Hall, director upstairs, that the equipment is clean and is always in good working order. I appreciate that Liz and Skylar are knowledgeable of what exercises and what equipment I use will help to meet my goals. Tracy, Robin, and Christian are always pleasant. I call WVRC "my home away from home."
Only one request when figuring your budget - how about an additional NuCor for those members who use this equipment for pre and post workout for surgery.
Regards,
Donnah Crow

Great, well-run fitness center--best around by far! Manager & staff are very attentive to the clientele and the place is immaculately clean! We are new to the area and my wife and I and our 11 year-old daughter use the facility daily. Highly recommend this facility for weight training and aerobics for anybody searching for a fitness center.

My husband and I moved to Fort Payne in July, 2022. This is such a well-cared for gym/rec. center and it has so much to offer. We love it and are there almost every day.

This is a great facility and used to be a very friendly gym. Now they’ve decided that if you still have your yoga mat with you after yoga class you can’t bring it upstairs to keep it where you can see it while you walk the track and are going to make you walk back down the stairs and out to your car with it. Well, I’m disabled and in bad enough shape that if you make me walk out to my car I’m not coming back. Really discourages people from exercising.

They call my yoga mat a “bag” and tell me no “bags” are allowed upstairs anymore for some unknown reason. Well there’s also a sign that says DO NOT DROP THE WEIGHTS but they never enforce that rule even though it makes my time in the gym very stressful when the guys do this.

The door to one of the racquetball courts broke back before summer and has never been fixed, and for some reason they’ve decided that the entire court is nonfunctional without a door.

Also would be really nice if they would do something about the fact that the weights in the weight machines stick to each other so that an extra weight lifts up with your weights and then drops down unexpectedly, making an incredibly loud noise right next to your head.
